Have you seen a “bleach” patch on your underwear lately? here’s what it means.

The internet, with its boundless reservoir of information, stands as one of the most transformative inventions of recent times. Its vast expanse of knowledge has fundamentally altered how we access and understand information, making it an invaluable resource in our daily lives.

The internet’s ability to provide instant answers to virtually any query is unmatched. What once took extensive research and time can now be uncovered with just a few clicks. This unprecedented access has not only debunked numerous myths but has also democratized practical knowledge that was previously confined to a select few.

Consider, for instance, the common issue of mysterious bleach-like stains on underwear. This seemingly puzzling phenomenon has sparked numerous inquiries online, with many women seeking explanations. Contrary to popular belief, these discolorations are not due to malfunctioning washing machines or poor laundry practices.

Recent findings reveal that these so-called bleach stains are actually linked to the natural pH levels of the vagina. It’s important to note that this is entirely normal and not a cause for concern. The presence of lighter patches on underwear is a healthy indicator of the vagina's acidic environment, which typically ranges from a pH of 3.8 to 4.5.

Dr. Vanessa MacKay of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists explains that the vagina has a self-cleaning mechanism aided by natural secretions and beneficial bacteria. This self-regulation maintains its health and balance. The National Institutes of Health further supports that a normal vaginal pH is moderately acidic, between 3.8 and 5.0, which is lower than the neutral pH of 7.

Dr. MacKay emphasizes that clear or white vaginal discharge is a normal occurrence and part of a healthy reproductive system. Disruptions to this natural balance can, however, lead to infections.
