Scientists decided to do an experiment in which they would pour molten lava right on a block of ice and film what would happen. 

Their hypothesis might have been very similar to yours considering we all have an idea of what occurs when something hot mixes with something cold such as ice; like for instance: the ice would melt and you would hear the sound of the steam cooling off the hot object. 

In this experiment however; thing went… 

a little different; perhaps too different according to the scientists who were in shock when they performed the test.
