Foggy and faded headlights are just one of the many hassles car owners have to deal with as their vehicle ages. But they’re not only unsightly, they can be a real hazard. 

Foggy headlights don’t allow as much light to pass through the plastic and therefore reduce your visibility at night or in a storm.

But you don’t have to buy new headlights in order to clear up your foggy headlights. There’s actually a simple trick that takes just a few minutes and a little bit of elbow grease. 

Once it’s done, your headlights will look brand new just like they did when they came off the factory floor!

items, you’ll be able to remove the annoying and dangerous fog from your headlights that date your vehicle and make you look like you don’t care about it.

Grab the following items to defog your headlights:

Toothpaste
Baking soda (as needed)
Water
Spray bottle
Wax
Cloth
Toothbrush

First add baking soda to your toothpaste as needed. The baking soda will make the toothpaste grittier which will help clear out your headlights. You can use a toothpaste that includes baking soda if you don’t want to mix the two together.

Generously apply the toothpaste and baking soda mixture to your headlight with your fingers. Make sure to rub it into all the nooks and crannies and cover the entire headlight.

With the toothbrush, work the paste into all parts of the light.

Spray the headlight with warm water. Then use the cloth to wash off the toothpaste and then dry the light with another towel.

Now cover the lamp with wax in order to keep the plastic from getting foggy again too quickly. This simply extends the life of the clean so you don’t have to do this process again for a while.

Wipe off all the extra wax with a clean cloth.

All steps are necessary in this process. If you think you can skip the wax, you’re wrong. The wax acts as a barrier to prevent your headlight from fogging up too soon.
