Netflix viewers left 'sickened' by X-rated series with extremely graphic scenes: 'Now we have p*rn on Netflix as well?'

Netflix's prominence in the entertainment industry has surged, thanks to its extensive library of diverse content and the convenience of streaming. The platform’s ability to deliver high-quality, original series tailored to a wide range of tastes has captivated audiences worldwide. Features like binge-watching and personalized recommendations have significantly altered how viewers engage with television.

Shows such as Stranger Things and The Crown have become cultural phenomena, driving online discussions and fostering dedicated fan communities. This blend of convenience, quality, and cultural impact has solidified Netflix’s position as a leading force in entertainment.

However, the platform has recently encountered controversy with the release of Supersex, an X-rated series that has unsettled many viewers. Premiering in March, Supersex is inspired by the life of renowned Italian adult film star Rocco Siffredi. The series, created by Italian screenwriter Francesca Manieri, delves into Siffredi's personal life and career, exploring themes of sexuality and relationships.

The show’s graphic content has sparked significant backlash. According to its IMDb description, Supersex chronicles "Siffredi's family, his origins, his relationships, and the context that led him to his career in pornography, as well as his acceptance of the darker aspects of his nature." However, some viewers have labeled the show as "porn," expressing discomfort over its explicit scenes.

The controversy reached a peak when a clip from the series was shared on Netflix's official Instagram account and quickly removed due to the intense backlash. One user commented, "Now we have porn on Netflix? Canceling my account; my kids can’t see this," while another criticized the lack of content warnings, stating, "It’s troubling that explicit content like this is mainstream while breastfeeding photos get flagged. There should be a separate category for such material."

Additional reactions included concerns about the portrayal of sexuality in contemporary culture. One user lamented, "The hyper-sexualization of society is depressing and degrading to both genders." Another described their viewing experience as "miserable," noting, "Everybody in Supersex is either sad, depressed, or in conflict. Even during happy moments, the dialogue remains bleak."

Supersex is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
